Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Ripley, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ by vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need a valid, full driving licence suited to the vehicle category, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional conditions may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations for vehicle hire can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon collecting your vehicle. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, with transactions handled securely through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, please conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was picked up, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. It is important to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as received; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may lead to extra charges, so please contact us if you anticipate being late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals at Ripley include basic third-party insurance. For comprehensive details on coverage and excess amounts, please refer to your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses:
- Prohibited activities include using the vehicle for illegal purposes or engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other high-risk activities. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to unauthorized individuals is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger limits, or operating outside the agreed geographical area without prior consent is strictly forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Ripley Car Hire will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for any loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liabilities arising from negligence resulting in death or personal injury, or from fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
Ripley reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
